Today while cruising my 2000 bmw 323i sedan 5 Speed where suddenly I had a green light and put the 1st gear and suddenly the rpms dropped and I would give it gas and it would barely or not even get the rpms up and stall the car out and crank and would barely want to crank this is the 2nd time this issue has happened I plugged in my obd2 computer to find no codes whatsoever I’ve somewhat pinpointed the problem to being
- dirty or clogged up fuel filter
-dirty fuel injectors
if someone could lead me in the right way towards this problem thanks !
You need to take the car to a reputable indie shop that specializes in bimmers. Try www.bimrs.org.
Try www.realoem.com fir part numbers. Enter the last 7 characters of your car’s vehicle identification number. Hit enter and bookmark the page. The fuel filter is in the fuel preparation section. The pump is in the fuel tank section.
Yup
Since I’ve bought the car I haven’t changed the fuel filter whatsoever and I don’t even know if the previous owner did so would that be the problem?
Is the fuel pump original? When was the fuel filter last changed? What brand of gasoline do you buy? Go to www.toptiergas.com. Go to the consumers section and buy only gas from the brands listed.

I have no idea last owner never gave those details and I get 93 premium from my local marathon gas station
Marathon does sell gas that meets the top tier gas standard. You can use a lower octane gas without any drop off in performance. You need to check the fuel pressure. Luckily, there’s a pressure test valve on the fuel rail. Item #2 in the link is the cap for the valve.

The fuel
pressure has to be at least 50psi at all engine speeds and loads. Buy/borrow a fuel pressure gauge with a long hose. Tape the gauge to the windshield and have the passenger watch the gauge. If the pressure goes all over the place you’ll need to replace the fuel filter as the fuel pressure regulator is part of the filter. The only brands of fuel filter to buy are Mahle and Keyser. You’ll need to pick up a foot of high pressure fuel injector hose and 6 stainless steel clamps as the hoses are likely shot. The filter lives under the car, under the drivers seat and behind a panel. The filter has 3 short sections of hose that connect it to the tank and the fuel rail. Buy the filter at FCPEuro as it comes with a lifetime warranty. If that doesn’t fix the problem then the pump is suspect. The only brand of fuel pump you want to buy is Siemens/VDO. Aftermarket pumps fail in 6 months. Again buy it at FCPEuro.
Yup already ordered the fuel filter as well as the whole fuel pump assembly, to be sure about everything I feel as though the fuel pump is soft failing on me that’s why
Yes it absolutely can be a fuel system and you wont notice it be scanning. 3 days ago my friend had similar symptoms in other city i told him to check pressure and it was 4.5 bars. After he changed filter (with regulator) car is driveable, we worked on vacuum system too. His maf is on its way out , but still, there is a huge difference.
Also did you double check coils and plugs ? look carefully. Similar happened to me back in 2008 on 523 and it was just a spark plug crack.

no i havent checked the coil and plugs, i genuinley think its either fuel pump or fuel filter due to it being so randomly happening one day when this issue has never happened and if you immedialty tryed to start it right back up car wouldnt start like there no was fuel coming through and if you let it cool down a few the car would eventually start and drive normally so i decided to replace both of them as well as the maf
and as far as engine codes car dosent throw any engine check lights and no codes whastoever
Well, I was trying to help. Confirmed your thoughts about fuel system and mentioned a fact that really happened to me. It would start, sometimes stall, refused to rise rpm's and had not codes. It was 523.
