Where does this temp sensor go?!

So I have a 1997 e36 328i cabrio that I recently bought and am fixing up. I was cleaning the engine bay and found what looks like a temp sensor just dangling behind the driver side headlight. It has a yello plastic body with about a 1” long probe sticking out of it. I took a pic of it but I am new to the forums so I don’t think I can post pics yet...that or I can’t figure out how. Any help as to where this thing is supposed to live would be great. It might be the outside temp sensor? Thanks!

Prob ambient outside air, iirc it plugs into the duct near the fog lights under your bumper.

Use the last 7 of your vin on realoem to look up parts diagrams for your car, then screen shot and draw on the pic to help us i.d. stuff

Thanks for the input Mizer. That is what I was thinking it was. The driver side duct behind the fog light is missing on my car so I was wondering if that might be the case. Thanks for your input! I’m still combing through the car to see what is missing and or needs upgraded and fixed.

They will be much lower in cost than your local dealership, and typically shipping just takes a day or two.

If you have a local pick-n-pull, I am sure there will be a E-36 in there, and IIRC all the ducts are the same on the stock cars, only the M-bumpers uses a different duct.

I took my outside temp sensor which is mounted in the plastic shield out of there and wire tied it up and out of the way. Because if the shield gets torn up so will the sensor
