    Stiffer Steering on M240i

Hey all, did some searching but couldn't find a straight answer on this:

I'm coming from a 2013 328 coupe (before they added adaptive suspension and the highly-electric steering) and I LOVE the weightiness to the steering at all speeds.

I test drove an M230i, looking for the right M240i, but I just can't get over losing that weighty, firm steering, particularly at slower speeds, that I have on my 328 -- the M240 (and most newer BMWs) is just too jumpy and loose at low speeds and I've read similar complaints at highway speed too.

So, are there any mods that can be done to make steering feel like it used to on pre-2012 3 series' etc.? Particularly for the xDrive versions. I'm loving the M240 in every other way, but this steering is really holding me back from pulling the trigger. I've read a bit about LCA replacements, but that seems only possible for the non-xDrives.

    Thanks!

Yeah, I went through the same thing when I sold my 2001 330Ci and picked up a new 2018 M240i. The e-steering sux but I’ve learned to put up with it. The e-steering in the newer M3s is supposed to be very similar to the hydraulic assisted steering, so maybe someone will swap racks in a later F22 and do some coding to get that BMW steering back.

Eh, starting to feel like it might be something I'll just have to get over to have such an amazing little car in every other aspect

But I would like to try to modify it whatever effective ways possible.

Been trying to see what anyone else has done to tighten up steering a bit on these, if anything at all (particularly for xDrives). Had someone recommend these bushings: https://www.powerflexusa.com/shop/pr...-bushings-2461

and these LCAs, but not sure if they work with xDrives. https://www.splparts.com/products/fr...w-f2x-f3x.html

Bushings are the problem. The problem is in the electrically assisted rack and its electronix. Maybe coding could fix the issue, but I think it’ll take an M2 rack and coding.
