Converted Auto Liftgate/Hatch to manual on my E61!

Pump shot craps and are expensive to replace and PITA to refill with fluid


Parts needed

1 Driver side Hinge cover #51497071599

2x hatch struts/ #51247178273

Really could get by w/ ordering just driver side

Just cut the hoses to the lift cylinder (I left about 2" sticking out for any residual draining that may occur to run down the water channel for about 2 days to be safe) and then plug after draining remaining fluid in the pump by opening and closing my pump was almost empty anyhow..(Don't cut the wire with electrical plug) Most fluid was in the Hydraulic Strut...
Plug (I used Silicone hose plugs from amazon variety pack of sizes was like $9 ) and seal over with RTV for added peace of mind then electrical tape to look professional lol ... It will not effect the lock mechanism of the hatch cutting the fluid lines...

Push the plugged hoses/Electrical wire and clip with rubber protection harness into the hole it comes out of.
Plenty of room in there!
I then used a 1" Automotive body panel plug/cap to seal the harness hole air tight.
Next covered with the new trim piece to make everything look factory again!

Works so much faster than the Auto Hatch..
Best/Easiest/cheapest Mod by far on the E61!
