I had a 2015 335i Automatic and it has crazy zip.
Wanted to move to a Manual. Test drove a 2015 435i Manual and it feels SO much slower.
Is that just how it is with a 6 speed Manual vs. 8 speed Auto now or should I be investigating if something is
wrong with the Manual I test drove?

The auto will feel faster, as it has smaller gears between each one compared to the 6-speed, that will keep the motor in the power band easier. Also most Autos will be faster off the line and on the track too, as it will perform perfect shifts for you.
