    Audio upgrade options for 2001 Z3 3.0 (E36)

    Ready for a time warp?

Many years ago I installed a DICE ipod (yes, ipod) player in my 2001 Z3 with the old Business CD radio. I wanted to keep the old school look but add some music options. Believe it or not, this setup has worked wonderfully for the past 10 years, but every since I had to replace the battery I can't get it to work anymore.

So here is my question for the audio experts. Has anyone else come up with an upgrade/add-on to this old head unit that I can control like the DICE? I love that it sits in my trunk and I control everything from the CD player (although it's clunky as hell). If there's no other add-on, does anyone make a nice single din head unit that would fit the E36 that keeps the old school look?

FWIW, it appears that Dice Electronics was purchased by VOXX some time ago, but I can still find the manual for the Dice. http://www.diceelectronics.com/suppo...mw_dice_gs.pdf

Thanks in advance for any suggestions

    Here's the Business CD HU

Try this to get the DICE going:
    - disconnect the ground cable from the battery
    - disconnect the positive cable from the battery
    - short the cable connectors together for 10 minutes
    - reconnect the positive cable to the battery
    - reconnect the ground cable to the battery (sparks are ok)
    - reset the clock.

I had a weird problem with my old 2001 330Ci: only the RR tweeter produced sound unless I was goi g downhill around a right hand curve. Then all speakers produced sound. Did the process outlined above. All was well! Weird!

That's strange. I remove power from the DICE unit, and in the past that reset it and it would start working again. Not anymore though. That's why I am interested in alternatives
