    I Want to Buy Suspension Parts - 1984 633 – same as E28

    I have a 1984 633 with about 315k miles.

I didn’t pay much for it, all I want to do is make it a safe reliable driver, I certainly don’t plan to track the car or drive it at Autobahn speeds.

Although it runs and drives, the suspension is in sorry condition with rattles and “clunks” as well as zero damping from the shocks. The ride height looks right so the springs are probably stock and probably OK. I would consider lowering the car a little depending on availability of other springs.

I need to re-furbish the suspension, front and back.

Anyone parting out a car with good suspension parts with some life left in them? Perhaps you upgraded and want to sell your old parts? I think my ’84 E24 suspension will be same as ’84 E28

All help is much appreciated, you can reply to this post or PM me. I’m located in coastal Carolina and could drive a few hundred miles to pick up parts or I can look into freight options from further away. Thanks, John Kenneth

I seem to remember that something in the rear suspension is different on the e24 but I don't recall what specifically.

Uro parts lists OEM type kits for the e24 for about 350 iirc. Comes with all the bushings except rear subframe. Probably the best bet for a DD car unless you want to drop some coin for aftermarket goodies. I seem to remember the upper front control arm bushings being really soft on the e28/24 chassis so you may want to go to an upgraded part there.

If you decide to swap springs I'd be interested in the originals for my e24. Some p.o. hacked them off to lower the car.

    Hope that helps

I'd be careful with Uro suspension parts, there's a reason they are less money- Use Myle as an alternative to the Lemforder parts which are said to be the best choice.

I have brand new control arms, etc. for the front suspension. It was purchased for a 1983 633csi, but then I was given an offer I couldn't refuse, and never installed these needed parts, which I did not include in the sale of the car. Send a PM with an email/phone and I will send pics if interested. I am almost as far away as possible (Seattle area), so shipping may make the cost too much, but the price for the parts will be VERY reasonable! They have been on my shelf for many years, and need a new home.
