hello all, wondering if someone can help me with this..
Ive got a vibration that has progressively got worse over the course of a week or so.
Initially, I would only feel it when selecting reverse. Now I sometimes feel it in park and drive. It goes away when I start driving but i can sometimes feel it when driving over bumps (through the seat and steering wheel)
If i catch the vibration in park, a slight touch of the gas pedal will make it go away.
I'll try to explain the vibration, its fairly strong, i can feel my seat vibrating and I can hear it. Its quite loud, sometimes its almost like a deep rattle, like a piece of metal is vibrating against a solid piece of metal. It feels to be coming somewhere from the drivers side of the car. (Left side)
When driving there is no vibration at all, car goes straight does Not shake.
Any ideas? I had i quick look under the car, feeling around... nothing stood out as to what could be causing it.
Any ideas in what it could be and where I should look?
Ah i also Sometimes hear and feel it when starting the engine, its like a fast knock on engine startup.
One las thing, car level and in park, if i get some to rock the car (push from the back) I will feel the vibration and hear it just as the car stops and it goes away as it slightly rolls back.
Hello? Can anyone offer some help?
Something new now.... when I accelerate hard from a stop the vibration comes in around 3000rpm and it rattles all the dashboard.
The only loose thing I found so far is an anti rollbar drop link, everything else I can get to and feel is tight. I guess that cant cause the vibration.
Bump!!???

Guibo Joint? Contact your local dealer and ask them if they have any campaigns going on. If they do, they will replace it for free, otherwise buy one and have it installed at your indy. In my 2003 745i that solved all my vibration and clunking issues.
There are no campaigns related to the guibo joint on an E65/66. And the guibo joint would have nothing to do with a vibration while the vehicle is stopped.

Hi white94rx,
There has been a campaign and I had it replaced for free on my previous 2006 745i and 2008 X5... that is why I suggested the OP to check. Don't you think that there could be more than one issue causing the vibration? Couldn't the joint be the one making the car vibrate when moving?
