Time to sell my 2002 540iAT. Right up front I hope I'm not out of line asking $9,500. 118,900 on the ODO. All info is below. Feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.

2002 BMW 540iT Touring/Wagon, 4.4L V8 Automatic Transmission

Selling my BMW Touring. I bought this 540iT 3 years ago as a project and to keep. The car had no mechanical issues when I bought it and has no major mechanical issues now. I've done both cosmetic and mechanical work to it over the last few years. I have addressed most of the preventative and known issues with this Bimmer. It was a daily for approx 10 months and I had no issues with it as a daily. Originally purchased with approx 113k mi. Currently has apporx 118k mi. Below is all the work cosmetically and mechanical that has been done to the Touring. Most work has been within the last few years/thousand miles or less. I'm selling it because, unfortunately I no longer have time for it. I bought it while I was contracting overseas and would work on i and drive it while I was home on R&R. Now I'm working more all over the US and it is not getting any love. It is not a daily driver and for the most part just sits in the garage as it has been for all of my ownership. Will be moving soon and downsizing as well so we're trying to thin out the herd. It's started and ran once a week just to keep thing flowing.

Cosmetics & functionality
*M-Sport style front and rear bumpers. Professionally installed and color-code painted.
*New M-Sport style flat bottom multi-function steering wheel (Leather and Alcantara).
*M5 Front Luxury Seats (no twist, all pwr features function. All cable refurbished).
*Black Dash (replaced brown dash).
*All black vents.
*Door card tops dyed black (All 4).
*Custom painted color-keyed interior trim (shifter trim also).
*Rear seat dyed black (needs touch up)
*Instrument cluster bezels added and painted color-keyed.
*Yellow lens fog lamps w/LED bulbs.
*LED Bulbs for "Angel Eyes"...BMW Halo Rings on Head Lamps.
*Smoked LED side marker/turn signal indicator lamps.
*Rear tail lamp housings refinished and clear coated.
*BMW M-Parallel wheels powder coated in Metallic Beige. Staggered set up.
*New windshield cowl.
*New windshield washer hose lines, from motor to hood, complete.
*New rear glass washer motor.
*All 3 washer jets cleaned out and cleared of debris.
*New front fender well liners (not installed).
*95% of dings removed PDR.
*New wiper blades (3).
*New (all 4) rear glass hatch and tailgate struts.
*New Hood struts.
*New Cabin filters.
*New A/C FSU (A/C blows very cold).
*All seats, dash, center console were removed and carpet cleaned and any debris removed.
*Sunroof drain holes blown out for proper drainage.
*A pillar upholstery cleaned and re-glued and re-fitted (B pillars need a little TLC).
*New Custom rear hatch spoiler (un-painted, never installed) Bought it off Bimmerforums member who makes them.
*Dark Tint all around.
*Custom Windshield Sun Shade (by Cover Craft)
*Refurbished DSP Amplifier
*Refurbished MID unit
*New AUX input (for audio device input)
*Replaced front cup holders.
*All Weather Mats front and rear


Mechanical Since 113k mi.
*New Timing Chain, Sprockets & Guide
*Right Bank Solenoid replaced
*Timing adjusted
*Lower oil pan gasket replaced
*Front and Rear Brakes pads/rotors Replaced (prior to 113k) approx. 60-70% remain.
Mechanical Since 116k mi.
*Front Upper & Lower control arms replaced (both sides).
*Tie rod ends replaced (both sides).
*Front Sway bar Link replaced (both sides).
*4 wheel alignment done after suspension parts replacement 1 yr ago.
*4 wheel balance 1 yr ago.
*Recent Oil & Filter Change.
*(Flex Disc included, not replaced)..
*(Center Support Bearing included, not replaced).
*New front tires, very recent. Less than 200 mi.
*Rear adjustable lowering links (for SLS) included (not installed).
*New Battery.

Items that need attention.
*Rear sway bar link bushings need replacing.
*Rear control arm ball joint assembly need replacing.
*Rear guide link needs replacing.
*All shocks are due to be replaced.
*Windshield is cracked (I prob will replace before sale…prob will not pass inspection cracked).
*Rear tires have good tread life, but are coming up on 5 yrs old.
*Very minor/slow coolant leak. Barely affects level. (need to source location)
*Slight oil leak, possible from upper oil pan gasket. (leaves a dime size spot after sitting)
*No under tray shield. (did not come with car).
*Passenger airbag light is on (due to passenger seat connection I believe is faulty. Had it reset by tech, but light came back on).

The Bimmer runs, idles, shifts and drives with no issues. Pulls strong and tracks straight. I feel it’s a great occasional driver, but will need attention on a few things to be a strong daily driver. Clean & Clear Texas title. It was involved in an accident prior to my ownership. Damage was to front left, but doesn't appear to have been significant as everything is straight and was repaired back to manufacture specs. This is reported on Carfax.
