    Erasing DTC codes

    If I repair whatever the code was and then permanently erase the diagnostic trouble codes and then in the future if it happens again will I not know about it because I erased the code?

    You cleared the code incidence, not truly "erased" it, so yes, if the issue appears again, the code will appear again.
