Radio Issues/Speaker Pop

To start, there are random loud pops even when the radio is muted and the car is not on (but is unlocked) the pops are more frequent when the car is on though.

Also, the radio is basically silent or extremely quiet and then randomly jumps back to normal volume, but the majority of the time is spent with no audio.

I have a 2008 328i SULEV sedan with Navigation and the Premium Sound System.

My friend said it is probably the radio unit, but from looking online it could also be the amp?

Hope somebody can shed some light on this for me, I'm new to the BMW scene.

It definitely could be the amp. I’d pull the connector from the amp and check it for corrosion. Get some CRC contact cleaner and clean both sides of the connector. Pay particular attention to the ground (brown wire/s) connector pin and socket. Have you ever had water intrusion into the trunk?

I am having the exact same problem! Did that do the trick? Going to check out my amp connections tomorrow.
