Hey guys,
Glad to see this subsection of the forum alive and well. Seems like some of the other areas are dead.
It's been a long while since I last owned an E36. I used to have an Alpine white on Dove 1996 328is that I had modified to look exactly like an M3. At the time I didn't have the means to get an M3 and made the best of what I did have.
Fast forward many years and cars later and I finally bought a 1999 M3. I always kept an eye open for an E36 but none were getting posted for sale anywhere across Canada. The search was damn near impossible to find an original Canadian car that was well taken care of and had decent mileage. I started to get so frustrated with my search that I started looking at E46 M3's! Even those are hard to find these days.
After many months of searching, I finally found the one. It was this beautiful Fern Green on Beige 1999 M3 with 185,000km (114,000 miles for those in the US). After some back and forth with the seller, getting a PPI completed and some more back and forth, we finally reached a deal. Next step was to have the car shipped from Edmonton to Toronto.
Initially, i thought this would be a very straightforward task. However, with us being in the midst of a pandemic, nothing is as simple as it usually is. Long story short, I eventually found a good shipping company through a friend and the car arrived in one piece.
The car is in the shop right now getting a few things done and I can't wait to get behind the wheel! Here are a few pictures of the car right before it left Edmonton.

That's a beauty and certainly a fantastic color. Congrats.
Interestingly I am originally from Alberta and when I was a wee lad a new M3 would have been a rare sight in 99.
Very nice. I love the sand beige interior with Fern.
I just picked up a slicktop 99 Fern on Black with 97k miles myself.
Nice ride! Love the Fern on Beige combo. So nice to see something that isn't the dreaded dove....post more pics when you take delivery!
Congratulations. There are very few E36 M3 for sale in Canada, When I got mine about 10 years ago there were many more available. There aresome differences in the Canadian spec and US spec M3. The Canadian cars got the 3 spoke steering wheel earlier and they tend to have rake adjustable steering wheels and floating motorsport rotors in the front brakes. Unfortunately the euro motor was only available in 1994 and there were no 95 M3s in Canada ie the S50B30 US motor never made it to Canada. Unsure if the 1996 version made it to Canada. So if you see a 95, they are all US imports.
That's right, Canada got 45 eurospec M3's in 1994. However, as I recall, even the Canadian eurospecs were detuned to 286bhp.
I honestly did not know that the M3 was not available in Canada in 1995/1996 and may need to check that. All things being said, I'm happy I was able to snag the last model year of the E36 M3 and very excited to start enjoying it.

I already did set the record straight. Look it up, it is on WiKi. frbz just made up a bunch of nonsense that I'm not going to spend time correcting and you made a mistake in thinking the S50B30 had any more power than 286bhp in standard form.
How about looking it up and correcting yourself instead of giving me grief?S50B30
The S50B30 was used in most countries, except for the United States (in 1993, BMW Canada officially imported 45 M3's with the S50B30 engine).[11][12] The S50B30 produces 213 kW (286 bhp), has a bore of 86 mm (3.39 in), a stroke of 85.8 mm (3.38 in) and a compression ratio of 10.8:1.[13][14] The redline is 7,200 rpm. The S50 has an individual throttle body for each cylinder, single-VANOS (variable valve timing on the intake camshaft), Bosch Motronic M3.3 engine management and redesigned intake and exhaust systems.[11][15]
The limited edition "M3 GT" model from 1995 produced 220 kW (295 bhp).[11] It had different camshafts and a redesigned sump and oil pump.

Listen man, maybe some of us were wrong on a few facts but you were quick to point that out. The whole point of this forum is to help other members learn new things about the cars we love. If we're wrong, tell us why but don't be a douche about it.
I was always under the impression that the eurospec motor from europe was rated at 321hp instead of the 286hp that the Canadian eurospec got. It turns out I was wrong. Rather than tell me to go research something, why not help educate and ensure the information we share is correct. You obviously have the time to post, so why not make it valuable?
