has ride quality gotten any better with RFTs?

Looking to get new tires for my 2011 328xi. I don't like the RFTs on my car but they are old. Wondering if new RFTs ride any better or if I should just make the switch to regular tires and throw a donut in the trunk.

    1. Is the ride comfort and noise noticeably better in regular tires or is there some RFT that is comparable?
    2. What's the smallest donut that will fit on my car?
    3. What's a good all-weather tire to get for comfort and low noise? Not interested in sportiness on this car.
    4. What's a good RFT that's comparable/close to #3?

    TIA

I have Conti DWS on two of our cars. I am reasonably happy for the price. I find them a bit noisy and they don't wear(or cost) like a Michelin.
Next set will be something else but pickings in 16" are getting slimmer. Coopers have served me well in the past were are quieter than these Contis.

Well, it's 2 months later. Must be the covid crisis.

    1. Is the ride comfort and noise noticeably better in regular tires or is there some RFT that is comparable? Non RFT's are much better if they have the name "Michelin"

    3. What's a good all-weather tire to get for comfort and low noise? Not interested in sportiness on this car. Michelin A/S 3+
    4. What's a good RFT that's comparable/close to #3? Does not exist.

I believe Conti DWS is now what's on my 2017 3 series (car's not here at the moment); that was the advice from the Tire Rack last spring.
Suggest you talk to them for guidance.
