Side air bag in older door

    Hey everyone,

Just curious what the differences are between the 92-97 and 98-99 doors. I know 98-99 had side airbags whereas the earlier ones didn't, so the qirinf would be different too, but can a 92-97 door have an airbag put in it? I have a 98 with a caved in door, and am looking to replace it, but trying to keep a search to just a couple years really limits results.

An airbag will not fit into a non airbag door.

Ugh that hurts. I was hoping I could pop some nut rivets in there and be good to go. Thanks for the response!

The older door will not have the mounting points. You could jerry rig them to your door, but you would also need to recode the airbag module (probably also need a later version) to set the side ones to active.

But why would you want them? If you want the doorpanels, these will fit just fine.

I mainly just need a new door. My car is a 98, so it has air bags already. Figured it would be easier and better off to keep them, than to try to delete them. I was quoted way too much to fix my current door, and I'm sure I can find a good one for cheaper than that.

Got ya. Delete is easy. Remove them and code them off.
