Can't code new GM3 module (COAPI-1080: error at changing ZCS) please help
OK, I got another used GM3 for my E39 540i/6 prod. 10/96. This module is slightly newer than the original. Swapping them with power-off only took a few minutes. So far so good. But now the central locking button doesn't work and the key still won't sync. Not completely unexpected since it came out of a different E39.
I read the data from the "new" module with NCS Expert + Dummy, changed the options to match my car (no Servotronic, for example) and attempted to code it. But I get a message: Error at changing ZCS. COAPI-1080: Codierschluessel fehlerhaft. Which translates as "Coding key incorrect".
After some searching online, I'm still confused... What's wrong and how do I fix it? Is this a profile problem, do I need to read the old module then code it to the new one, or what? Thanks for any help!
EDIT: my stupid fault - grabbed the wrong cable. I have 2 and only one works with NCS
But - now the remote locks work, but the windshield wipers don't! No matter what I do with the coding. I know I'm changing it because (for example) I turned off the soft on/off interior lighting and it comes on full. Did I get another bad module??
Put the old module back in, wipers work again (and of course the remote locking doesn't). Seller is sending me another GM3.
