Hi,
The EML light appeared on my 2002 BMW Z3 M Coupe while it was away having some paintwork done etc. The car runs fine, the light is just annoying so I want to find out why it's there and fix it.
I bought this tool https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
When I plug it into the ODB port it says this: https://imgur.com/a/d8eEvMF
I read online theres a 20 pin connector in the engine bay which may work, so i bought this https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The same result occurs!
How can I read error codes off this car successfully?!

If you are going to try and read the codes from the 20 pin under the hood, make sure the door/cover that is over the obd2 port is closed. It has a jumper wire in it and if it isn't closed the 20 pin wont give access. Not sure if that helps but its something to look at.
