My car has been sitting at a friends house for about 3 weeks while I was using my truck for work. I went to get in it today, it started right up but gave me a host of notifications.
1st was the "Lighting System! Stop vehicle"
my turn signals aren't working, not sure my tail lights are. Looks like my running head lights are on. It wasn't dark but it didn't look like my dash lights were on. The heads up display was working though.
2nd warning was the "Start-off assistance inactive!" my car is a 6-speed manual and i noticed the car wouldn't hold itself from rolling like it used to.
I was looking for the Lighting system module and unplugged and plugged back in a couple modules on the passenger side under the glove box and now I have
"Dynamic Drive Malfunction!"
"Power Window anti-trap function!"
thoughts?

Yes, most likely problem is that your battery is failing - don't spend money on anything else until you fit a new battery. A battery can fail from new in just a couple of months if it is not kept in a good state-of-charge

good to know. It is still under warranty.
I pulled the battery and put it on a trickle charger and it fully charged and I still had the errors. I ordered a Foxwell NT510 Elite to be able to talk to the computer.
So when that comes in I am going to have the battery fully charged then try to clear all the codes and reset the battery. Hopefully that works
If that doesn't work I will take the battery out and take it to advance auto, where i bought it, and have them run a full test on it.

So battery is fully charged.
I got the Foxwell NT510 Elite and started erasing codes. I got a couple to go away but am still getting the "dynamic drive" and "lighting System" errors. I am going to try and unplug the lighting system box and plug it back in. Then if I can figure out where the Dynamic Drive box is do the same.
anyone else here use a Foxwell Programmer?

ok so I pulled the FRM out of the car and it looks like the capacitors have burn up on the back side of the board. The plug area was also dirty.

BMW 6 983 539 is the part number. Can I just replace this with just the same part number or will it need programming?

i did some searching and ordered another FRM from a vehicle with the same build specs. Used Mdecoder.com to check the build sheets with the Vin numbers from the vehicles. Should have it in a couple days. Hopefully this will fix the lights issue. Then onto the Dynamic Drive issue. I checked my PS fluid and it was where it was supposed to be.

That's the damage that water does to electronics - it is not the capacitors, they are ceramic and don't contain any electrolyte. You need to find the source of the water ingress - probably water drains.

oh man, i had this same issue with my old 2007 VW Touareg V10 TDi. That thing had so many water clog locations. I will be sure to clear those drains! The car sitting outside for 3 weeks without moving and it had been parked under a tree for a while before that. Very likely they are clogged!

Drains in the fenders were definitely clogged. I had to reach down and pull all the junk out. The hose didn't get the mess to go through at all. My lower drains you have to access from the fender liners weren't clogged. I don't have a convertible so I didn't look at the back.
Do you know where the computer for the Dynamic Drive is located in the car?

Replaced the footwell computer with a similar one and that fixed that. I unplugged and replugged in the dynamic drive computer and that fixed that one. I still have the ”Start Off Assistance Inactive!” Error I need to figure out. I can pull all the codes again and see what shows up.

Just went out and did a full scan. The car was not on when I did this scan so I am not sure if it's super accurate. I'd like to figure out where this "start off assistance inactive" issue is.
edit* i cleaned out the No Fault info and spaced them out so its a little easier to read.
