E66 750 transmission going crazy after INPA reset

    Hello all! I have a 2006 e66 750,
The transmission was working fine except slightly hard shifts from 3rd to 4th. Do yesterday I reset the adaptations using inpa and now it's horrible! Its slamming into almost every gear, extremely hard shifts then when it shifts from 4th to 5th the revvs will shoot up and "gearbox fault reduced acceleration" comes up on the dash.

    What have I done!!

What error codes in inpa are you getting?

Maybe it's time to change out all the seals and possibly even the solenoids and oil.

I had no fault codes for the trans prior to doing the reset. After the reset, terrible shifting and trans failsafe I got two codes 4F89 and P17E8. Wish I'd have never done the reset ......

Check the posts by TeckFreak. Hopefully you just have to change the seals.

Thanks. Is there nothing I can do to get it running OK again until i can look at getting repairs? As I said it was perfectly fine before the reset. Just sometimes would shift abit hard into 4th.

On these 6HP transmission it's never a good idea to reset adaptation unless you do some mechanical work to it. Sounds you have bad solenoid(s), hence the hard shifting even before reset. Resetting them makes it worse. It will get better, so keep driving but eventually if you are lucky it will be back to same as before.

I did the same mistake on my E65 and the transmission never got even back to state it was... Until I bought new solenoids and put them in. It's been working very nicely every since and already 19k miles with new solenoids and counting.

Hello thanks for the reply, I reset the adaptations again today and followed the "calibration" procedure. Afrer around one hour of very slowly going through the gears and back it feels much much better and the tans warning hasn't come back yet. Still a hard shift into 4th probably worse than before but ill just keep easing it around for a few days and see how it goes. What solenoids could need replacing? I tested them in inpa and all come out good

Well, I changed them all. I see no point leaving any old one's if you open it up and pull out the mechatronics....

Well my car is back to normal now, if not better than before. There's still abit of a hard shift to 4th and a little hunting but its a lot better than before. For anyone else reading this I would advise NOT to reset the adaptations unless you have time and a good place to very slowly run it through all the gears for a good hour or two.
