Ok.....another noob question here. If I upgrade my radiator and radiator fan do I need to run the AC fan that sits in front of the radiator. I am looking at upgrading radiator, radiator fan and add an oil cooler and transmission fluid cooler. With all of the upgrades I think I will keep the engine cool enough I just need the space and want to remove the ac fan if I can.
Your car has a transmission fluid cooler as it has an automatic transmission. It sits near the expansion tank. A big radiator and fan provide you any benefit. The cooling system is “right sized” by the BMW engineers.
The only time the electrical fan runs is when the A/C is turned on, if your car is automatic and has the pusher fan in the front.
The only other time it will kick on is if the car senses an overheat or the output temps on the radiator is very high, like over 220 degrees F IIRC.
