Hi all:
I am looking for O2 sensor replacement. Search for my '86 car resulted the following part numbers:
BOSCH #1573 (CAD 60)
BOSCH #13008 (CAD 140)
DENSO #234-3000 (CAD 65)
The only deifference between BOSCH sensors I see is that more expensive one has round BMW connector, while cheaper #1573 has universal connector. I think I can solder BMW connector from the old sensor to the new one, for price difference in CAD 80.
Any thoughts? Am I missing something and is there any reason why I should spend more on the direct fit sensor?
Thanks!

You can't solder the wires because they are not copper. They used to sell the universal O2 sensors with waterproof crimp connectors. I have not seen these lately with the sensors, but they are not hard to find. You can connect the universal sensor to the OEM connector with waterproof crimps. Don't cut the wires anywhere close to the sensor itself, the wires need to breath. Splice it by the connector. I go with the OEM sensors always, this is not something you want to add a level of risk to the system.

Thanks for the fast reply. Didn't knew that I can't solder, but seems like you're right and sensor comes with the crimps https://partsavatar.ca/bosch-oxygen-sensor-15735
Will order this one.

Yes, those are good crimps. They twist lock and have the rubber glands to keep the corrosion away. However, they don't exhibit much pull strength, so keep that in mind. The marine crimps with heat shrinkable housings are also good.
