Hi bimmers
I have a BMW 116i LCI N43 engine with oil pressure problem, fault code 30C1 oil pressure control, static
Oil has been drained and has a strong smell of fuel and is very thin. Last oil change was ~4000km back, used LL04
Removed oil pan and checked for small plastic pieces from timing chain guides, everything looks good, suction pipe is clean
Oil pressure sensor and control valve was changed last year, OEM parts
Anyone encountered this problem? Any clues?
Thank you
The strong smell of fuel is the key here. The viscosity of fuel is significantly lower than that of a motor oil. You likely have a leaky fuel injector. How does the car run?
The car runs great, no misfire, no hesitation, no smoke, no other DTCs
Since this engine compress air and not air/fuel mixture, can a bad injector cause this? Oil has definitely lower viscosity because of gasoline mix.
Can HPFP leak and fuel gets into engine? Anyone had this issue?
A leaking injector will drip fuel into the cylinder (since it’s direct injection) after the engine shut off. The fuel gets passed the compression and oil control rings and ends up in the sump. That’s why the oil smells of gas. The pressure at the injectors is unbelievably high and the fuel pressure remains high after you turn off the engine. I’d scan the engine computer (DME) for codes. The Service Engine Soon light is on only when an emissions related code is present. You could put a bottle of injector cleaner (Techron is about the best; I think LiquiMoly sells a similar product) to clean the injectors.
