Long time admirer, first time E24 post. Being an e31 guy for many years, I finally picked up a beautiful 89 Cirrus Blue on Silver-Grey in near-perfect condition (even the dash is perfect), and want to replace the comfort seats with powered Sport Seats. Per Realoem, the module and switches are the same. Can anyone confirm? Thanks!
Hello, are you looking to get rid of the comfort seats? Pics? I have an 88 635csi and was thinking of replacing the leather but if your seats are in good shape I would consider buying them if available. Thanks
I believe you're fine, I did the same thing for my '86 635. Don't think it would be any different on an 88 or 89.
Only issues are that the seat belt buckles aren't compatible, and the thigh support would require additional wiring if you want it to work.
So you'll want to unbolt your seat belt buckle from the comfort seats and put it on the sport seats. You can just ignore the thigh support completely, or take the time to wire it. It wouldn't be hard to wire for someone who is confident with that sort of thing.
I did exactly this to my ‘88...Except I used some very late model ‘89 seats from Europe....straight bold in on the seats..don”t remember anything strange with the wires .. in my case the seat controls on the sports were actually located on the seats, and I deleted the center console controls.. wiring is simple in these cars, everything has its own harness .... As mentioned the seatbelts are different, but will work.... good luck finding some sport seats....I lucked out and found some very late model seats, in the right color in England, and as a bonus, the now drivers seat ( ex passenger seat) was like new,! Shipping was not cheap, but not horrible either...

Seats will bolt in and and work fine in all adjustments (assuming they all work), the front extended thigh bolster will also work, the two wire connector is there in the original harness, shoot me a pm and I'll send images of how / where to connect it.
Only other difference are seat heaters that the M5/6 used and that harness isn't in a non M car.
