I gave style 81 on my touring. Not crazy about them... But neither hate them 😁

17x8 Style 66s on my 530i touring. My winter alloys & tyres set up for my car here in the UK, I run 15mm spacers all round too

Used to be, i loved the ARC8’s, but now, it’s the FL5’s in 18x10 square with 265/35/18 DWS Continentals. The rims are a little bit over $400 a piece, forged, flow formed beautiful rims that are very light, i think its a bargain. But I have always been traditionally a silver wheel kinda guy, but the anthracite one will also go well with my green wagon. Or, maybe see if Apex would do them in light bronze.
Big fan of these myself too on the E39, lovely looking alloy

My preference would be 18” 32s over 37s, both lovely wheels but for me, the 37s are done to death & the E39s all look the same...

You hardly see the E39 18” 32s over here... I was after a set & none were coming up, bought the LMs I’ve got & then 2 sets cropped up

I did like the 37s I had, but prefer the LMs I’m on currently

Yeah Snotty and I were talking about the RD gig he's got going on right now. They definitely got the right dude for the job

I have no doubt you'll wind up with those wheels brother. Creative craftiness will net you those at the right time.

Been saving these RD's for the right car. I had them on my 635csi for a while there and kept them when I sold it. Really wanted to use them on the wagon, but they would have needed the centers bored to fit the hubs. I didn't want to risk that so I just keep 'em around in case the right things line up.

hmm....the pics of the six loaded upside down. Stupid....just stupid...

hahaha...I'm sure that's true...but they're nowhere near as pissed off as I am about it..... big mistake selling that car but that's what the times required.

    17x8-1/2's. einpresstiefe 13.5

BTW - danb1979's wagon ^^^ looks the bee's knees with those LM's in place. I dig those. Even if you took the wheels off that car, it's a damned nice looking ride..!

Had money been no object ? (haha...that's a joke..) If I was targeting a BBS wheel, then would have gone with RK's on Frau Christine and a Brembo BBK all the way around. Big red calipers on a wagon are always a cool way to stick your middle finger up at someone, (....."dude...yeah, I may not be as fast as you but you're gonna hit that and I'll be stopped about one block back..."....) but I actually thought that the yellow calipers would look nice against her Carbon Black paint.

    Thanks Pal

Alas, they're not genuine LMs; there's no way in hell I could justify spending c£4.5k UK Sterling on alloy wheels for my car that might do 4-5k miles a year and never go to shows etc...

But I was fortunate to get the very last set of LMs that BMAutosport in the UK sell, that were a direct fit for the E39 hub; they're decently made too and not eBay specials from the arse-end of China; from what BMAutosport told me, they're sourced along with a few other makes of alloys they sell from a manufacturer in Italy

I still do covet BBS alloys; I'd love a set of CH-Rs in gunmetal, probably 19" though and love some of the APEX alloys too, so they could be on the horizon next year

I really like how the gunmetal 66s I have for my winter alloys look; just a shame they're 17" as they look a bit small on the touring, they're not as bad on the saloon IMO

yeah...those are some high end winter wheels lol..! The gunmetal really looks good on your car.

I ran square 66's for my winter set here for a bit too. then...somehow...ended up with not one, but TWO sets of these Borbet 16's !!

I found the first set (four wheels) for $80 locally and had a brand new set of Michelin Alpins (a customer gave to me when they moved to Florida) sitting in storage so I mounted those up and used them on the wife's sedan.

The wagon, came with square 66's as summer tires and the we set the previous owner up with a spare set of 66's for their winter tires. After I acquired it, I found this set below in Pennsylvania for $180.00 and began using them for the winter.

a face only a mother could love....

Haha yeah; TBH the original 66s that came on my car; I sold them when I bought the E38 Style 37s as I didn't have room to store them at that time due to having various bits of work done in our home.

When we cleared the garage of all the crap we'd built up I set about sorting another set for winter alloys & tyres and managed to collect 3 singles, locally, for the low sum of £60 for all 3! I got a free 4th alloy from someone who was clearing their garage of junk, just paid £10 to get a courier to collect and drop off and I already had a very rough 5th with a rotten old tyre on it.

My DIY refurb was fine to begin with, but they soon started showing the poor job I did (rattle can paint and lacquer never lasts well through winter I've found); so they'll get done again before they go back on the car for this winter etc. I'll probably get my pal to powder coat them cheaply; a much better and longer lasting finish then

I’d be willing to go aftermarket with 18s in an e39 fitament. If you have any suggestions I’m all ears. Or if you can source some options on your side of the pond for reasonable shipping that might be interesting too...
    Hi Twistytee,

Sorry, just saw this reply from you ! Depending on what wheels you like and prefer, there's usually a good/great selection of 18's available. I tend to look at 19" as a minimum but often see lovely 18" sets around too. I source wheels often and also send plenty of sets to the USA - set went out last week and another set to go out over the next few days hopefully. Shipping to the USA for 4 wheels I get really good rates for so if I see a set that you may want, keep in mind having them shipped over to you isn't a problem You'll just have to let me know your shortlist of 4/5 sets you'd like !

    Cheers, Dennis!
