Hey guys,

I've had my '17 F22 220d for a couple of years now and am looking at getting a Stage 1 remap (from the stock 190hp).

My plan was to go to DMS and get them to do it; for £600 they would dyno it, apply the map and fine tune to suit my exact engine on the dyno. Net result: 240hp (limited to 231 by the auto 'box).

However, was in my local specialist today and they are going to start mapping cars. Maps are supplied by a reputable tuner based in Glasgow (I forget who exactly) and would yield 220hp. No dyno at the specialist so that's the map I get. Price TBC as it's a new venture, but likely to be about £275.

I'm a little bit confused about what the different power outputs say about the quality of the map; I can't help but feel like the DMS map would be better because it's giving more power (so surely is better tuned, unless it's just additional boost), but then the standard BMW map puts out much less power than either and cars do 200k+ miles on them. How would you choose between them? The cost isn't a huge factor for me because I would rather pay for whatever is the best result (best for the engine).

On that note, should I worry about the extra strain that 20% extra power will put on the engine? I drive it quite firmly as is, do 20k+ miles a year and do let it fly down the autobahns once in a while so want to make sure I'm not going to cause any damage as I plan to keep the car for a while longer.

Thanks in advance
