What did brand/supplier did you use for the tunnel and engine bay heat shielding?

I used the same stuff on the engine panel on my Can Am Maverick X3 Turbo R a couple years ago and the adhesive has been holding up so far. We'll see if the results are the same in the tunnel.

Just added it to my parts list haha. I like the silver a lot better than the gold tape you normally see.
I used DEI adhesive backed heat shielding. It wasn't cheap but the quality is great.
This build is looking nice BTW!

I've been able to get a bunch done. 3" stainless exhaust is done. 4x9 oval by 18" Magnaflow in place of cats and a second 4x9x14 straight through in the place of the factory muffler. Will post pics later. More significant are my radiator clips. Stock plastic wouldn't work. Fabbed my own, nutcert in the radiator support, and fastened.

Up and running. Starts reliably after a bunch of adjustments to the tune on the Link G4X. Now I have a vibration and I'm pretty sure it is the flywheel/pressure plate assembly, FX lightened, stage 2. At first I thought it was just extra NHV transmitted from the stiffer mounts but, it grossly increases with RPM. This is becoming a career project.
https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/s...l-Install-Help OP in this thread has the same issue, but turned out it was the mounts. I'm not so sure with mine. Plus someone says the pressure plates are out of balance. Planning on pulling it back out tomorrow.
Edit: Change of plans. I guess the vibration was just amplified by my crappy transmission mounts. Moving on.

I think I dodged a bullet. With the multitude of things on this build, I forgot to tighten a hose clamp on the heater control valve. It didn't leak or blow off until the 4th heat cycle and first drive. And when it did there were no signs of a problem. I drove it to my neighbor's house, about 1/2 mile, and noticed the temps climbing on the laptop (not the dumb gauge). By the time I arrived the temps were 220 and I shut it down. My neighbor has a lift and with the M3 up in the air I discovered the problem. Reattached the hose and replaced about a gallon of coolant. Had it out for three drives and cool downs since and all seems normal. Fingers crossed.
Some pics on the lift.

Do you not have an aftermarket water temp gauge? Underside & engine bay look nice!
Thanks. All diy. No aftermarket gauges yet.
I had the tuning laptop hooked up and was watching the temp climb as I drove. 200-210 I felt was within parameters but it continued to climb and I shut it down. Fully bled now and I will keep checking for any coolant loss, but looks good so far.

220f isn't too bad. I was running 212-215f on the track last weekend and didn't phase me, but glad you found the problem. Cool build by the way, only just started to check it out. I like your overflow tank, I just ended up using an E36 M3 tank and put it in roughly the same location as yours. Keep up the good work.

I parked her in the barn for the winter, but I checked the coolant after several drives and she seems to be fine. I'll keep checking when the weather gets warmer.
Working on plumbing the EBC now. My research found 7 psi is normal for no controls on the WG and running full pressure to the bottom of the diaphragm.
To keep as much of the system away from hot exhaust piping, I am planning to mount the Mac valve on the driver side. Then two hoses to the WG under the transmission. What have you bottom mount guys done?

EBC installed. I found others just mounted it under the car and no suggestions were made, so that's what I did. I can't access the fitting on the compressor housing without significant disassembly, so the nylon line wasn't replaced. Maybe I'll get to it someday. I'll shield it where it is close to exhaust but the closest point is about 3 inches.
