I'm scratching my head trying to figure out an oil leak on my 07 E83 X3.
I thought it was the oil seal where the axle crosses through the oil pan (what a crazy design!!). However, I have the axles out, and I'm still getting a leak.
I have two hypotheses
1) It is the gasket on this block off plate leaking, more info below.
2) It is the oil pan gasket just above the axle. However, the pan gasket was replaced 20k miles ago by a good shop, so I find this unlikely.
The thru-hole has a CV carrier block that mounts to it, and then the axle goes through. So I re-mounted the carrier block, which has an O-ring for the thru-hole which I thought was causing the leak. Torqued it down, left it for 4 days. After 4 days, I still have the leak, so that tells me it is not the CV carrier o-ring.
I've attached pictures, welcome your thoughts.

As I recall the plate does not have a gasket you could check by going to reloem.com enter the last seven of the vin go to section 11 for oil pan picture you could reseal it with like etc or Honda bond or Mbz type sealer.
