Lightbulb Interesting idea.. but probably stupid.. Please give me advice?

Im new to this forum , i just purchased my first bmw like 2 months ago. When i used to drive a single cam honda civic it was possible to swap the cylinder head drom the d16 head to a d16z6 head to get higher compression and it would usually increase the torque and hp by like 5-10 with just a factory oem head.. Im trying to find information on this for BMW and i cant really find any for my exact question. So here goes.. Can i put a 2001 330xi cylinder head on a 1999 328i? & would doing this actually provide any potential power gains or serve and actual purpose? Both engines are the I- 6. Im Parting out the 330xi and the engine is seized, I would like to save the head if possible. But not if i dont have any actual use for it.
Please let me know if this can be done or has been done, and what might need to be done to make it work. thanks.

Cylinder head is the same part number for both, so it won't help with power on the 328i. The 330i makes its power from larger engine displacement, different intake manifold, intake tract, and different intake camshaft (hardly a difference).

Your best option for performance improvements is to fit the 330i inlet manifold to your 328. There are plenty of threads on doing it, so a little research on your part and you'll be right.

There is only one thing more pleasurable than working on a Z3, that's driving it top down on a fine day.
