Since its my first post since buying the car gonna say i like it but gotta have that suspension back like the msport i6
So to explain ive been trying to listen an look for problems an I found one or two
.Every morning I go out an start it to let it warm up before I go to work, about a week ago I come back out with it at full operating temp an i can tell its definetly offsince them ive noticed it a few times, but its not loud at all an it seems to go away with any throttle....
Cladsic vaccum leak or ?
i still need to get the round 20 prong adapter but im not getting any malfunction flashs or error codes (except it always tells me to check my brake lights )
Yesterday @2 g doing 75 80 like normal I start feeling it losing power just for a split second enough to move my rpm just a fraction but its done it repeatedly as long as I'm holding it at 2g driving down the road
That's sound like a common issue the E38's experience, torque convertor shudder. I had this issue myself. While I don't normally use 'snake oils', Dr. Tranny Shudder Fixx took care of my issue. I had tried a fluid/filter change before adding the product. My 740iL was a '96 and had the 5HP30 transmission. Tim did a write up on his site.

The first step in diagnosing a problem is to scan the engine computer (DME in BMWspeak) and the transmission computer (EGS) for codes. The Service Engine Soon light is on only when an emissions related code is present. Find a reputable indie shop that specializes in bimmers at www.bimrs.org.
@mayorchuck thank you for that wtite up your right it is very similar an overall I think thats the problem because manually shift into 4th stops it all together
Work recently done @autoscope Plano
Front control arms
Thermostat
Alignment
Camshaft position sensor
Something around the pcv an ccv was leaking so idk new intake gasket an check the timing chain
Can one of yall confirm if the 740li an my 540i both 96 model have the same transmission
I was fairly certain without any question but now shop is telling me that these symptoms dont match up because it's a different trans in the e38

It would also be helpful if someone would tell me how to move this thread into my new one or make a quick link for me
