E30 Valance Respray

HI Guys

needing some help, i am needing to know the best process to paint my e30 valance. I managed to pick up for cheap in good condition, only problem is that it is brilliant red and my car colour is bahama beige. I am needing to know how do you start the process, what grit sandpaper to use from the very start to the very end, should i use primer? what do you guys recommend? I am planning on making this my project over the weekend. Any Info and help will be appreciated.
