I was probably not very efficient with the color coats, I was afraid of getting too close and putting runs in so I bet i wasted a decent portion. I think the optimal distance is about 4" with those cans. The paint in the cans is chromabase which goes for about 125 a quart, plus whatever reducer cost. I know it doesn't take a quart to paint a bumper but just for reference on materials cost.

Really I don't mind a tedious process like this, working on cars is as much a hobby to me as driving it, so its worth it to me to do a little trial and error to learn something if I wasted $80 worth of paint oh well.
