Mishimoto Cold Air Intake For E46

Hello, I know there is some information out there on cold air intakes for the e46, but I haven't seen anyone talk about the particular Mishimoto one. I know that the hp/tq gains are pretty negligible, I'm going more for looks and sound anyway.

Anyone have any insight, relating to Oiled or dry elements, and has anyone use the mishimoto one I have listed below, if so, thoughts? Thanks!

Don't bother with the Oiled type of filter, as you can foul the MAF and make the car run rich. I would stick with the dry filter types as they won't foul your MAF.

But yes you will not notice any power gains, just the noise added is all, if that is what you are looking for.

I once was a big cheerleader for the k&n filters (they did send me one for free) but I discovered it is possible for it to cause the p0174 light.

Would I tell someone now to purchase one? Not with out warning them.

Awesome, I'm assuming the Mishimoto intake is an oiled type? Do you have any recommendations for dry element cold air intake filters?

If you are dead set on getting a cone filter, go with AFE, they offer a dry filter that is washable.

Just so you know, you will get about the same surface area on the flat panel filter, as you will with a cone filter. BMW designs all it's intakes to be a cold air style, as they take air from the kidney grills.

Most cold air intakes I have seen end up being hot air intakes because they don't seal well and all so there really not drawing air from the front like the stock air box there just drawing air from the engine compartment which is hot. And as others have mentioned the oil air filter damaging the air mass flow sensor cold air makes horsepower but this will be no help, save your money. Want to go fast buy some thing that already has horsepower
