No it will not. That information is stored on non-volatile memory, meaning it will not clear that way. You will only successfully erase the car's clock and date with a battery disconnect. Almost nothing on these cars gets solved by disconnecting the battery.

I saw this after I typed the above.

Can I drain both DEF tanks from the two lines out of the transfer pump relay? 7-295-666?

You'd probably get large amount of the fluid out if you simply disconnect the transfer pump hoses. I have not tried bridging the wires to the transfer pump. It's probably a simple electric motor. Unsure. But if it's a pulsewidth modulated motor, then you can risk frying it.

I've drained my 328d wagon's DEF tanks after some Walmart branded DEF, and then put correct fluid and reset the "SCR Adaptations" and it worked fine.

I pulled the two lines from the transfer pump and drained 3 gallons. I re-filled it with 2.5 gallons of BMW fluid and drove it about 8 miles. It did not re-set it. I have a Bimmer Mechanic down the street so I will have to ask him to reset the SCR Adaptations if it does not resolve in the morning. Thanks for the help!

Did you actually fill it with the wrong fluid initially?? If not draining it is a waste of time.

When this fault occurs it is usually due to failure of the front or rear Nox sensor. Ensure your mechanic has a BMW specific diagnostic tool (ISTA or Autologic), this is mandatory to carry out the test module to determine which Nox sensor is faulty or if there is other components causing the warning.

After the repair then vehicle must be driven for more than 15km to clear the warning.

    Hey Mark,

I just topped off the DEF with Supertech brand from Walmart. The expiration date on the bottle was recent. Re-filled with new BMW urea. I just had the DEF/SCR Adaptations re-set and took a photo of the codes. Drove it home about 12 miles. After reading a lot about this the next thing I will check is the quality of the SCR metering valve. Apparently this part really gets crud up with crystallized urea.

No, it will not. You have an issues with your system and its probably a scr tank. a lot of parts with the emissions system is covered even after your warranty.

This is not the old 335d, what applied to those doesn't completely apply here.
