E36- m60 swap

Hi , I’m have an 1997 BMW 328is, a friend of mines gave me a M60 v8 motor out of a 540i and was wondering if I could fit the auto trans into my E36 as well or what trans is needed to keep it auto due to the fact it’s my daily driver. My plan b is an LS swap, if the M60 isn’t a GO ! Please let me know of any info or guides to this. Appreciate it !
