I've got some in mine too, so I will watch and see what others say.

Is there play in the hub/teeth when you slide the wheel on, or is it normal 'steering' play?

The M-tech II should be a direct fit to the E34, at least mine was. The steering on most E34's has a bit of play given the setup is independent and not rack and pinion. When was the last time the front end components were replaced?

Just found another post on this that basically says I would have to swap the upper part of the steering column to a later model to fit my wheel , I have the earlier column/spline , or sell the wheel and get one that fits the early model ,

Mtech I from an e28 will fit your car if you're not looking for an air bag wheel.
