So my wife’s 07 525i drivers headlight was out.
I replaced the bulb (H7) it went out the very same day
So I finally tore down the ENTIRE headlight housing
And had to re wire 100% of it. Effing nightmare
Over 30 feet of wire and lots of heat shrink and solder later
It turns out the computer is sensing a burned out light then cutting the power.
This phenomenon happened straight from the harness even if it isn’t plugged in to the headlight.
So the headlights look great but the driver side one turns off after about 10 seconds.

Any ideas?
Have you scanned it for codes? Try disconnecting battery for about 10 minutes. That should reset the computer and hopefully fixes it.
I have scanned but only with an obd app.
The battery suggestion is obvious thank you
I’ll try that and reply back
No. That didn’t work.
I have the software and connection device to get into the factory computer in the Mail.
I suspect I can turn off the warnings and that will fix my problem... fingers crossed
Anyone...? Buler buller.....
The Light Control Module, LCM, has the ability to cut power to individual circuits when a short develops to protect the circuit. It also has a counter feature that Permanently cuts power to the affected circuit after 50 starts of the of the engine. BMW will tell you that the LCM has to be replaced. There is diagnostic software and programming software out there. Tool32 is the only application that can clear short circuit codes that store permanently.. Here’s a link to the thread you need,The Official Guide To Resetting A Short Circuit Fault In A FRM Module . https://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=866044
Also post #7 on this thread has a YouTube video on using tool32. https://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sh...4#post10115661
keep us posted.
