1982 320i AC Min Max Knob

I’m working on the center console and when I removed the AC control knob I noticed there are 3 cables connected to terminals on the top of the knob, and a coil of metal soldered to the bottom of the connector. Anyone know what the metal cable connects to? It was just stuffed into the console but the end appears crimped as though it should connect to something. Cheers

Are you talking about the temperature control knob? They have a long bare "wire" that extends through a hole into the evaporator core for sensing temperature or something..

That sounds like it, I’ll look for a place in the evaporator coil that looks like it should fit. Thanks
