hey guys new to this forums.
i have a 1995 M3 that i got recently and i wanted to try the pedal trick to read the check engine codes.
i turned the ignition to the on position and the quickly hit the gas pedal 5 times and my check engine light just stays solid.
ive been looking online and i cant find anything regarding the pedal trick not working.
do you guys have any advice?
I would wonder if somebody monkied with the dash, as in getting the check engine light to tie in with another light.
So what is happening that you are trying to get codes? If you have a laptop laying around, INPA works on most Win-10 systems with a cable.

I have always had limited success using that method. Having said that the method depends on a functioning throttle position sensor so if that is NG .......
Best to read the codes with a proper scanner.

+1.
"Trick" is the operative word. I've seen it fail to work, far more times than I've seen it work. Even when it works, you're left counting flashes like morse code. I gave up on even trying this, many long years ago. Now I connect a BMW diagnostic tool, which uses actual words to tell me what the car knows.
