New to the E23 scene and just cruising the parts markets on EBay while I await my time to get my hands dirty on the car.
I see a pretty decent list of stuff available, but some of the prices are just crazy...chrome door mirrors for $540? Sunroof wind deflector for $200?
Now of course, anyone can ask anything they wish and let the market sort their pricing out, but I'm just curious if items like these are in line with the market or are these people just plain nuts? I'm kind of thinking its probably a mix...

I would say some prices are comical at best.
I make E23 parts.

Ford, MB, and GM round out the pack.
Got all excited that I could probably double my money by just selling my mirrors, sunroof wind deflector and the two grills that go under the wipers.
Easy money, right?
There are probably 10 people in the world buying e23 parts. (That is a slight exaggeration, but there are not that many people working on these cars, it's a small community.) When I have sold e23 parts, I have not found their scarcity to translate into value, however. People who are asking super high prices have probably been trying to sell those parts for years. Parts are worth whatever someone will pay for them.

I have a '78 e23 euro that I have been working on for about a year, replaced the motor, head lights, heater core and more. Finding parts is challenging. I have bought from e bay cautiously and had good results. Headlights came from Cairo, Egypt and got her faster than the parts place I used mostly that is in the midwest. It does take a lot of time to locate the parts you need and it is worth it, I do enjoy this car. Drove it for about 15 years before starting the present up grades.
