e90 2007 328i passenger air bag light on, but no fault codes

I'm having trouble figureing out what's wrong with my mistress.

The air bag light is on the dash and the seat belt light all the time, but it's not giving me any codes on the obdII scanner. I'm buckled in and the lights stay on, I buckle the passenger seat belt in (with no one in it) and the lights stay on and the "passenger air bag off" light comes on on the roof.

Looking at the belt pretensioner it doesn't look like its been activated (it should be shrunk up if it was)

I even tried unplugging the passenger seat (the yellow pug below it accessed from the front) and no codes came up on the scanner.

Does anybody know what I need to fix?

You need a better scanner. OBDII scanners won't read airbag codes. Throw that thing in the trash and get a real scan tool if you want to diagnose and repair your vehicle yourself.

OBD2 is for Engine Management/Emissions stuff, the Airbags do not show up there. You need a scan tool that can see inside of all of the various controllers that your car has.

Ahh, okay. Is this specific to each vehicle manufacturer? Do I need a different one for BMW than say a Dodge? Or is there a universal term I could put in a google search for having the ability to read the extra codes? Like OBDII...+the extra stuff

You need a scan tool that is specific to BMW because you are needing to get to chassis stuff, not engine stuff.

    Google, BMW SCANNER 2.0.1
