    2007 335I, 2012 Denali,

2008 528 I Crank sensor fault code causing Transmission services required

    2008 528i throwing code P1727, P0335, P0420, P0430 & P1727 (again but saying Coast Clutch Solenoid this time.

Car was running flawlessly then out of nowhere check engine and limp mode popped up. Checked the codes with my cheap code reader and this is what I’m getting.

I’m thinking it needs a new crank position sensor from previous knowledge and some research.

Thing is that I have a chance to buy this car for like $1400 because the owner thinks the transmission is out/going out because the dash reads “transmission service required“ (something like that) & it’s in limp mode.

I’m very capable at repairing anything, rebuilt engines, manual and auto trans, etc. so I’m not scared of the crank position and cat issues but I’m not trying to invest the time or money into a trans issue being that I don’t need the car. It just seems like a steal from an uneducated person.

So, in long has ANYONE had the same issue where the crank position sensor goes out and caused the ecu to throw service trans codes?

I forgot to add that the car started really really hard (is:crank position sensor) BUT it shifted into drive and reverse smoothly and shifted fine before this happened.

This is a RWD car btw.

Sorry for the Nubby question and appreciate the quick reply as the owner is waiting on my decision.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Forget about all those "P" codes. They are not reliable.

    You will have to get:

    - Foxwell 520 model for BMW
    - download ISTA-D on your laptop (this is the best tool I use)
    - download INPA on your laptop

    Next:

Ask the current owner, how many times he replaced the LifeGuard 6 inside his ZF 6hp19. That's an answer you want to know.
