Early e24 vs Late e24 Euro Bumper Fit Question

My new question is will early euro front bumper components fit on a late euro front bumper? Link is here for early realoem bumper parts and here for late realoem bumper parts. I'm looking at a car with bad rot on the drivers side piece of the bumper, which i think is part number 51111886385. As you can see the part number is different then the early version, which is part number 51111867627.

Are these parts interchangeable?

I found this one thread about it, but it wasn't exactly clear in my mind.

Back in the day, I found that the later air dam worked fine with the early bumper fwiw. I bolted an M635 air dam up to my 79 635 with no problem at all anyway.
