    Shift Carrier Ball Extension

I am in the process of collecting parts for my 5 speed swap and short shifter. The 1 thing I would like to add to my parts bin SSK would be a shift carrier ball extension ( guessing at what it may be called ). Does anyone know if there are any companies that make such a part ?

Something like this UUC Extension but it has to work with the factory bushing, so I can use the BMW Shift lever I already have.

If no one makes one, I my get a 2nd carrier and cut and paste ( Machine and weld ) together what I want. I'd just like to avoid that route if possible.

Just a couple of problems with your plan.

When you raise the shift lever, (that's what you are doing by adding the extension,) you are changing the geometry of the linkage. Trying to use the standard shifter, you will have the bottom of the lever hit the carrier and not be able to get it in gear. (usually 3ed and 5th) That's why SSK include the lever, to correct the geometry,

Either buy a correct SSK, or buy a modified Z3 shift lever.
No matter where you go, there you are...

Actually I'm using a modified Z4 lever so there should be enough length from the fulcrum point to allow an extension to the top of the carrier. I think it will have a better feel with a straight shot to the transmission as opposed to a bend in the linkage to clear the guido . I know I can just buy a SSK kit but where's the fun in that ?
