Ok so I thought I would save a few bucks and replace the OEM battery on my 2013 x1. Bought an interstate as I have always had good luck with them. Re hooked the multitude of wires in the right sequence and nothing. No power, no nothing, not even fault lights. Apparently one needs a reset OBC tool. Is there any way to hack this to at least get it to start and get to a dealer. Can the transmission even be engaged to neutral if I need to tow it??? Help
So the car was running before the battery change?
Did you ever figure out your issue with this? I've heard plenty of people comment it doesn't need to be reset, and then I've seen threads like this that indicate it might actually need to be.
Not resetting it will not be good for the battery. Registering the battery lets the car know it's a new battery and will adjust charging accordingly. You can still drive the car... if it doesn't start, you have other issues.
Lime Rock Park... the most fun you can have in a mile and a half.
Just replaced the battery on my 2013 x135i with a Kirkland recommended battery from Costco.
You MUST unplug / plug the positive & negative cables in the correct order.
2nd you MUST ( with no battery installed ) touch the negative/positive cables together for 25-30minutes. Making sure they have a good contact with each other. Then you must connect the battery again in the correct order with the negative/positive.
I have done this on many bmws. Never had a problem. Just did it on my own 2013x1 35i 1 week ago.
