First time using a forum so bare with me
I have a 94 325i that has a m50tu out of a 95 525i. Somehow the previous owner messed the engine up and it's pretty much toast (all valves are bent and cylinder walls are damaged from valves).
I have found a decent m52TU with low miles for a good price that I can swap in, however not only is that motor obd2 but it also has dual vanos as opposed to the single vanos in the current engine.
I have done some research and figured out that I can reuse the harness, oil filter housing, valve cover, oil pan, and the accessories from the M50 which I can easily do but I am concerned that it won't work due to the dual vanos on the m52TU.
My question is can I still swap in the m50tu out for the m52TU using all the stuff off the old block that I mentioned regardless of the change in vanos?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks
You don’t really see anyone doing this, probably for a reason. My recommendation is to follow the well trodden path unless you really know what you are doing, and you would not be asking if you did. I know a little bit and would not bother. Find an M52 and convert it to obd1.
