Hey Guys, long time lurker, first time....
I'm about to buy a second E36 320 with a blown head gasket and I'm tossing up which of my cars is going to be the donor and which is to be the recipient.
My first car is a Hellrot red 92 320, paints faded, interior is shabby, blower motor is cactus so no AC or demisters, instrument cluster dead, drivers window arm bent (window pops off), but mechanically the engine and drivetrain are ace, it just cracked the 200k km when I drove it the 1500-2000 km from Brisbane to Melbourne and didn't skip a beat, it has M3 wheels and suspension and an aftermarket exhaust.
Second (potentially) is a (Derby?) gray 91 320, interior is great for a nearly 30yr old car, everything functions, panels are straight and paint is flawless, 240k on the engine, it seems to just be the blown head gasket and its going cheap!
I have never done really big jobs on cars before but thanks to the current situation I have a lot of time on my hands.
Should I put the Red cars engine in to grey, or steal what I can from greys to bring red boy up to presentable/operational?
Or I guess I could try have a crack at gasket replacement and hope nothing else is stuffed.
What's your recommendations guys? Any input is appreciated!
You are in the engine conversions forums so put in an LS?

I don't have access to an LS and I already have a perfectly good M50.
And I believe then engine conversion forum states "Major projects involving swapping a motor from one chassis to another", doesn't say anything about changing the engine type.
