    Will BMW GS6-37BZ 6-speed fit E24?

    Hello,

I need to know if 6 speed transmission from 2006 BMW 330ci ZHP (GS6-37BZ) will fit my 1985 BMW 635csi with M30 engine.

I currently have a 5 speed installed but I am running a turbo with 420HP and one day 5 speed is gonna blow up and overall its not good for a turbo application. I know that the Getrag 420G from M3 does fit on M30 but what about GS6-37BZ. Any ideas?

The M20/M5x bellhousing is different than M30 one. Your only option is a 6 speed from late E34 M5 3.8...oooopsss

Sorry to intrude, but I just bought an engine and Getrag 420g to swap into my '84 633. Now I am wondering if this trans will fit into chassis? Can someone tell where I may need to clearance tunnel to make the 420g fit? And, is there an aftermarket trans mount available, if not, we will fabricate one. Thanks,

It will be very tight, you will need to shorten your propshaftas the 420g is longer than any of the 5 speeds. You will also need a bellhousing adapter plate.

    Thanks, Shipper!

I bought an '84 several months ago that had been painted a different color and paint is bad and I really didn't want to do another restoration-type build. And none of my bimmers are quite stock, a '91 850i, '76 530i and 2002. So I am planning to build a street/ track car with the 6. And, last week I bought a 420g and a S5X engine to install. So i should be getting motivated soon to work on this project with a little help, maybe a lot of help!

I installed 5 speeds with LSDs in my 2002 and 530i back in the '80s! The engine in my ID photo is in the 530i, 40 DCOEs with a 302 deg Schrick cam.
