    Track day magnet thickness

Is 30 mil thick enough to stay on the car during a track day/time trial event? If not, what do you recommend? Thanks!

Uh, depends on whether it's holding a car number or an anvil.

I’ve read 30 mil is ok for autox but can fly off at track speeds. Just wondering if 60mil is preferred.

So, I use Scott @ Autocross Magents on Facebook (shout out to Scott) and have never had a problem when the car was dry. I made the mistake of putting on the magnets once during a wet track day and of course I lost them both.

I'm on my second set and have never had a problem. No idea what the thickness is on these though.

Awesome! Thanks! Wanting to buy magnetic sheets to stick SCCA decal, Hawk, etc. to so I can put them on and take them off between events and don’t want them flying off.

    Thanks!

Tape the leading edge and that will eliminate most problems.

I've seen this done before as well.

I guess if you want to get real trick, you can just cut the leading edge of the magnet 45* so air passes over it.

Aero on the leading edge of car number magnets? That HAS TO violate some class rules on aero - right?

If it doesn’t say that you CAN do it, then you cant! Ha!

Thinner material conforms to surface better. Tape the leading edge. Track tested to 148 mph. I’ve never lost one in over 250 days on track.
