Hi can anyone on here tell me is the comma xstream G48 the correct coolant antifreeze to use in a 1995 e38 750i .. I’m in the U.K. any advice would be appreciated thanks
From other post
BMW Blue is the ideal. Short of that, any coolant that is Green or Blue is the same idea as BMW. Mercedes spec coolant would be my next choice. These guys have similar requriements for additives that are not harmful to aluminum/plastics used.
Any DEXCOOL intended coolant is bad - Orange in Color ( at least here in the US ). General Motors was involved in Dexcool, and the biggest issue for Orange Coolant, is it makes a mud like substance when mixed with the Green/Blue stuff.
Pink is the Japanese spec mix ( Toyota, Nissan, etc ). I would also avoid that stuff.
Hope this helps.
Thanku the comma xstream G48 is blue/green in colour.. so I should be ok with that.
Go with either BMW Coolant or G48 ie blue coolant or G05 (Yellow or gold) and don't worry about it. Originally they came with G05 (ie YELLOW or GOLD) same as G48 with nitrates and not extended life (ie 50k vs 150k miles). What ever you choose make sure you flush the system before switching over, and never mix coolants, no matter how compatible it is.
Thanks much appreciate yr advice. Yea I think I will go with the Xstream G48
I use ROWE Hightec AN Blue 21066-418-03

Valvoline's green Zerex G-05 is a perfect substitute for BMW's own blue coolant. I've long since lost all the information I had saved, but it was determined to be chemically all but identical. It's all I've used since day one and I've had zero issues. As mentioned, make sure to flush, and avoid mixing wherever possible. Personally, here in Australia I've never been able to find the gold bottle version of Zerex
