I am currently trying to figure out why my car isbn running, first things first I live in cold weather and was driving it and all of a sudden a lot of smoke blew out the back and oil lite came on.
Was going to do compression test so I removed the spark plugs and I hydro locked my cylinders with oil. Cleared out cylinders and did a compression test and cylinders ranged from 190-210.
drained the coolant and no oil in it, and the remaining oil in the pan had no coolant in it. So I bypassed the ccv system with oil catch can replaced all the spark plugs, new oil, new coolant, new coil packs, new oil filter and the thing still ran like garbage. So I drained the fluids again and again there was no oil in coolant and coolant in oil.
Can someone please help me, I can't figure this out and I don't wanna throw more money into the wrong thing.

Depending on the speed you were traveling at when the CCV failed and you hydrolocked your engine, you may have a bent rod. If you were lucky and it happened at idle, I would just suspect that the motor is flooded, or you have a vacuum leak. It will take some time to get all that oil burned off, so if it just ran for 5 minutes, that's not long enough.

Would I not hear rod knock then?
"Runs like Garbage" can mean a lot of things to a mechanic......
A rod knock comes from two thing typically:
1) Bearings
2) Wrist pin

Well I replaced the MAF and the thing runs like a dream again.
I suggest you replace the CCV system.
I would suggest (IMHO) you DELETE the CCV all together and use the pilot mod that is quoted in many places that uses a PCV valve and completely removes the CCV system. I did this on both my e46's and I have never looked back. I just removed it completely, the CCV components, and its the best approach to this risky cold weather issue for the e46.
