    What can this be?

After owning the car for a few years I finally noticed this metal bar in the trunk near the top. Does anyone have any idea what it might be for? I know I can easily remove it but it's worth investigating what the previous owner might have done. Also what are these bolts holding onto? I tried searching and looking at realoem still couldn't figure out. Thanks.

Looks like somebody just added something it. Where the big bolts are, those are used for a 5 point seat harness, so they put bolts on the other end it seems.

Thanks. Think I found out what these bolts are for (though there is one missing on my car). These are for the rear seat back latch which is used to fold down the seat back on couple models. There is one latch on each side with two bolts attached to each of them.

Nope, the latch releases are found closer to the trunk opening, not there. Wish I have the M3 so I could take a picture to send it to you.

The handles are but actual assembly is near the seatback. I found this photo on the internet.
